The Great Outdoors
Pulham Market is perfectly situated for walking with a number of circular walks into neighbouring parishes starting from the village. For those looking for a longer walk through stunning South Norfolk countryside, The Boudicca Way is a 36 mile footpath linking Diss and Norwich. The path passes right past our front door and calls at Tasburgh Hill Fort and the Roman town at Caistor St Edmunds. A stay at The Old Bakery makes the ideal base for walking the entire Boudicca Way path.
The gentle undulating Norfolk terrain and quiet back lanes are also ideal for cyclists and there are a number of cycle routes for all abilities - please contact if you would like more information.
The beautiful beaches of Norfolk and Suffolk are ideal for strolling, sunbathing and picnics. The beach is an easy drive from Pulham Market whether you want to explore the wild North Norfolk coast, the fun of the traditional seafront at Great Yarmouth or have a quick sojourn to beautiful unspoilt coast town of Southwold in North Suffolk.
Birdwatching and Nature Reserves
Situated on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk in the beautiful countryside of the Waveney Valley we're ideally situated for visiting numerous bird and nature reserves including Redgrave and Lopham Fen, Minsmere RSPB Reserve and The Broads.
Local towns
The nearest town is Harleston, a lovely higgeldy-piggeldy town of unique shops, galleries and tea shops to explore a mere 5 minutes drive away. Diss is a slightly larger town a little bit further away hosting a market on Fridays and a regular Farmers Market for local produce.
Norwich is Norfolk's capital city just 30 minutes drive away with lots of car parks and an excellent park and ride system, with the nearest site at Harford at the top of the A140.
Norwich is a wonderful city mixing fabulous old architecture with stunning new buildings. The city is also rated in the UK's top 10 for shopping facilities with two malls, unique boutiques and the oldest permanent market in the country. If you'd rather take in the sights, there are two cathedrals and a stunning Norman castle as well as a wealth of museums. Alternatively you could sit back and relax in a pavement cafe or have some lunch in a restaurant. You'll be spoilt for choice. Just across the Village Green you'll find Gables Yard, a hidden gem where in a cluster of carefully renovated outbuildings you'll find some of Norfolk's finest designer-crafts people.
Ray Auker creates unique pieces from domestic items to decorative ceramics.
Isobel Auker makes knitted textiles, wearable and architectural, intricate and organic. Hangings for interiors and garments for special occasions to commision.
Kidz Fancy Pantz produce a huge range of fancy dress costume and supply haberdashery goods.
Just along from The Crown is Pulham Market Hall, where more master craftsmen can be found. Derrick Ibbott, accepts commissions for stunning contemporary and period wooden furniture.
In nearby Harleston you'll find Kate Fisher a talented ceramic artist creating functional and sculptural pieces.
David J. Paddison, an experienced local cabinetmaker and member of the Norfolk Furniture Makers Association, specialises in making the highest quality furniture.

In Gables Yard Ray Aukker offers a range of reasonably priced ceramics courses.
Local artist Nicola Slattery runs a range of courses throughout the year in nearby Startson. Each course is suitable for all levels of ability including complete beginners and those with more experience wishing to broaden their approach to art.
Painted Country offer a arnge of furniture paininting workshops which take place regularly throughout the year. Learn how to achieve beautiful painted finishes in French country style using Annie SLOAN Chalk Paints. You'll be shown how to produce distressed 'antiqued' patinas and achieve a professional result. Their shop in nearby Eye is definitely worth a look - full of lovely things for the home!

St.George's Distillery
The English Whisky Co. is the first and only registered whisky distilling company in England. Operational since December 2006 and opened it's doors to the public in 2007. Aiming to produce excellent quality whisky that will compete with some of the finest whiskies currently on the market by using the very best local ingredients.
You can join a tour, (one leaves every hour, or more if there is demand) explaining all about the whisky making process and finishing with a tasting.
