As we progress with the governments road map to coming out of lockdown we look forward to being able to welcome guests back to The Old Bakery very soon. As a bed and breakfast we will (all going to plan) be able to welcome guests back to The Old Bakery from May 17th but going forward we have a new option for you, to book out the whole property as a self-catering holiday let. During lockdown we made a few adjustments to our private quarters enabling us to offer guests the option of booking The Old Bakery as a holiday let. We did this to give you a choice – bed and breakfast or holiday – so that you can holiday in a way that feels comfortable to you. Perhaps you want the freedom of being able to cater for yourselves and be more independent; perhaps you want to holiday with you family in a bubble; or perhaps you want to enjoy a few days away without having to cook breakfast. The choice is yours. Whatever you choose rest assured that you will continue to receive a warm South Norfolk welcome with home baked shortbread and home made preserves.

Now that the government has announced its plans for the next stage of lifting the lockdown we would like to let you know when we will be reopening and what plans we are putting in place. Whilst bed and breakfasts can reopen on the 4th July here at The Old Bakery we will reopen on the 1st August. This is because Jim is shielding and although he will be able to get out a bit more from the 6th July, shielding does not officially end until August. Should things change we will let you know straight away, so make sure you check back here and our facebook page for updates, but for now here’s a taste of what to expect when you next visit.
Check-In at The Old Bakery
We are working on making registration digital so you can answer the questions before your arrival. When you arrive, we will ask you to sanitise your hands, check your temperature and give you your individual welcome pack and sanitised key.
To help with social distancing we will only be opening 3 rooms this summer. All rooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised before your arrival. We will be offering housekeeping during your stay but if you would prefer us not to just let us know and we can leave any supplies you need outside your room.
Breakfast will be served in our breakfast room although the buffet table will not in available. We may ask you to book a breakfast time so we can ensure social distancing is maintained. Should you prefer to have breakfast in your room a delicious continental picnic basket can be delivered to your door.
Please feel free to take a book of the shelf to read during your stay. When you have finished with it please place it in the box marked books so it can be taken out of circulation for 72 hours before being replaced.
Our staff are all undergoing Covid training in preparation for the reopening. Temperature checks will be carried out when they arrive for work.
We will all be wearing the appropriate PPE as prescribed by government regulations so you can feel safe during your stay.
Before you arrive we will send you a health declaration which we ask you to complete and return to us before your stay.
We have set up hand sanitizer throughout the property for you to you and you will find a complimentary hand sanitizer in your welcome pack.
All our linen is washed at 60 0C minimum to provide optimal conditions for cleaning and disinfection.
Your final bill will be charged to the card number of your choice and your receipt sent via email. We ask that if possible you leave your bedroom window open when you leave to circulate the air before cleaners go in. Please leave your key in the box on the desk on your way out.
A short break at The Old Bakery in the beautiful Norfolk countryside is just what you need right now.
See you soon.
